Illinois Education and Care under Federal Policy Shifts: Impact Narratives Project

Advance Illinois is working to document and uplift the impact that federal orders and actions have had on Illinois’ learners and on those providing education and care so that others gain greater insight into what is happening and how our system, the people who power it, and the people served by it are being affected but also responding to the changes.

ISAC Summer Supports for Students

While school may be out for students, ISAC is available through the summer to help students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Alternative Application for Illinois Financial Aid (Alternative Application) for the 2025–26 cycle. Please share the following with your students and colleagues in your network and community.

  • The ISACorps of near-peer mentors are available to assist students and families with their financial aid applications. Students can book a virtual one-on-one meeting with an ISACorps staff member at www.isac.org/booking. Bookings are available up to 7 days in advance, and there's an option to meet with a Spanish-speaking member.
  • The ISAC College Q&A text messaging service, available in both English and Spanish, allows students to get answers to questions about college planning and financial aid and receive alerts about college planning events and deadlines. To use the service, students simply text their first and last name to:
    • Service in English: 847-243-6470
    • Servicio en Español: 773-823-0570
