Reflect. Reimagine. Rejoice: Supporting Excellence in New Teachers

Ignite and Inspire: Building a Mentor Program from the Ground Up
Featured Speakers: Jake Palmer & Maddie Wright

Building a robust mentoring and induction program in your district can be tough. Where do you start? Who needs to be involved? Join Jake and Maddie as they share how to build a mentor program from scratch or very little. Fisher Grade School has increased the amount of support for mentor teachers during this past school year and have seen significant improvements in teacher performance, as well as school culture. It's the harsh reality that staff is turning over like never before. As school leaders, we need to embrace this reality and do everything we can to support & ensure new teachers’ success.

Many Needs, Little Time? Reimagine Your Mentoring Model!
Featured Speaker: Janelle Hockett

Reflect upon your system’s mentoring model. Reimagine what could better meet the needs of new staff. Rejoice over tools and resources that may support your system’s growth. During our time together, you will hear part of our district's journey and gain moments of reflection about your own system's mentoring program. You'll also have the opportunity to investigate tools and resources and begin to plan for propelling your mentoring program to new heights.

Mentoring Matters: Building Relationships
and Cultivating Your Skills

More Than Drinking Buddies: Redefining The Role Of Teacher Mentors
Featured Speakers: Alex T. Valencic, Cheri Crawford, Jaclyn Boomgarden, Tara Hersey

In the ever-evolving landscape of post-COVID education, the role of a teacher mentor has become pivotal in shaping the professional journey of new teachers. This session proposes a shift in mentoring strategies, moving away from the traditional "drinking buddy" approach towards a more dynamic and impactful coaching model. Participants will learn about the changes Freeport SD 145 made in recruiting and assigning new teacher mentors and the impact these changes have had on retention and job satisfaction. Come learn what has worked in Freeport and leave with a framework for supporting your mentors and mentees!

The Mentorship Shuffle: Navigating Relationships with a Winning Hand
Featured Speakers: Ally Buczyna, Lindsay Tweedle

Mentors are invited to the table to ‘shuffle’ up their approach to relationship building. Through insightful discussions and interactive exercises, participants will learn to 'read' their mentees, effectively 'bet' on communication strategies, 'raise' trust levels, and skillfully 'play their hand' in diverse mentoring scenarios. This session provides the tools to 'stack the deck' in favor of strong mentor-mentee relationships, enabling them to navigate challenges with the finesse of a seasoned player. Whether you're an experienced mentor or new to the game, this PD will help you 'deal' with mentoring dynamics, ensuring you're always holding a ‘royal flush’.

Don't miss the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the field! Register now to secure your spot at one or both of our conferences.
