SUMMARY: 3 Day Summer Learning Series: Love, Learning, and Liberation
DESCRIPTION: Dear Golden Apple Family! Allow us to introduce ourselves, we are Mayra Almaraz, 98’ Golden Apple Scholar and Madeline Kobayashi, 14’ Golden Apple Fellow. We are award-winning educators with a combined 30+ years of classroom teaching experience in elementary and high schools across Chicago. We have served as curriculum writers, instructional coaches, literacy and social science content specialists for Chicago Public Schools, and we have designed and led multiple professional development workshops on anti-racism, connecting with humanity through our stories, and various other topics pertaining to equity. Recently, Madeline and I decided to share our knowledge and expertise with educators via our newly formed education consultant business, Critical Learning Collaborative, LLC. (website forthcoming!) We are reaching out because we would love the possibility of partnering with you in providing professional development, coaching, or other services that may benefit your teaching scholars. As a scholar and fellow, we have a deep appreciation for what the Golden Apple Foundation does to help teachers be the best they can be, and we know that ultimately students reap the rewards of the training and preparation, and we would love the opportunity to assist you in this! Additionally, we wanted to share a 3 day, Summer Learning Seriescalled, Love, Learning, and Liberation that we have designed and will facilitate next week. We have partnered with the Chicago Teachers Union to also provide teachers with 15 ISBE credit hours and 1 Lane Placement! The series will take place August 9-11th from 9:00am-3:00pm, in person at the Chicago Teachers Union headquarters. I am attaching the flier, a document that provides more information, and a registration form.
