DESCRIPTION: April 2026 | Classroom insights into the science of learning for K-12 teachersWelcome to this month’s edition of The Bridge, where we share the latest insights in the science of teaching and learning.AI has sparked loud debates about banning tools, detecting cheating, and rewriting academic integrity policies. Our new position paper argues those are the wrong starting point. The real question is whether AI use strengthens or replaces the thinking students are meant to do, because, as we know, output is not evidence of learning. This paper reframes AI decision-making through the Science of Learning and offers a practical lens for educators who want to protect attention, deepen knowledge-building, and preserve the conditions that make learning possible.
