Join study author Marisa de la Torre (Consortium on School Research) and Rebecca Vonderlack-Navarro (Latino Policy Forum) to learn key takeaways from the study. They will highlight important successes for students, and share where and why it looks like more robust supports are needed, in and before high school. Then, Eugene Robinson, CPS's Inaugural Director of Black Student Success, will join Dominique McKoy, Executive Director at the To&Through Project, for a conversation about the district's Black Student Success Plan. This brief highlights the work of Enlace Chicago’s College Pipeline Initiative—a unique approach to educational partnerships, family engagement strategies, and student supports that focused on increasing college access and success for CPS students by organizing community strengths around collective systems change efforts in Little Village. The presentation will also contextualize immigration within the context of the changing political landscape. Fausto is the Co-Founder of the Praxis Institute and Josh is a Managing Partner at Praxis. RSVP for the March Data Collaborative here.Emileigh Harrison and Kelly Hallberg from UChicago Inclusive Economy Lab will present research on the impact of the Star Scholarship in Chicago, which offers free community college tuition to high school graduates with at least a 3.0 GPA. Using a regression discontinuity design, their findings suggest that free community college increases overall degree attainment without causing students to substitute 4-year degrees for 2-year degrees.
